"Can science prove or disprove the existence of God? Can a scientist be a Roman Catholic with integrity? Have scientists done away with the need for the universe to have a creator?"

Come and discuss these questions, and more, with Catholic priest and astrophysicist, Fr Gareth Leyshon.

Revd Dr Gareth Leyshon read Physics at Oxford University (1991-94); researched a PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Wales, Cardiff (1995-99); and obtained a First-Class honours degree in Theology from the University of Surrey during his priestly training at St John’s Seminary, Wonersh (1999-2006). He is currently priest-in-charge of the parish of St Dyfrig’s, Pontypridd, and an Associate Chaplain to the University of Glamorgan. His vocation story recently appeared in print as a chapter of No Ordinary Calling (St Paul’s, 2010) and he is a Member of the Institute of Physics.

25th January 2011:

"Catholicism, Choice and Conscience"

Dr. Thomas Pink is Professor of Philosophy at King's College London.  He works on the free will problem, morality and the history of moral philosophy.  One problem he is currently studying is what promises are, and why those who make promises should keep them.

1st February 2011:

“Religion in the University. An optional extra?”

Dr. Fernando Cervantes is Reader in History at the University of Bristol. He read Modern History at Merton College, Oxford (1978-81) and obtained his PhD from Cambridge in 1989. He has a particular interest in the intellectual and religious history of early modern Europe, especially Spain and Spanish America.
